Pros
As with most organizations, people are genuinely helpful and want to see you succeed. It was a relatively relaxed environment with a good work/life balance. Variable pay was very good.
Cons
The organization definitely has a data management need (also like many organizations). It didn't always seem like leadership was on the same page for how to reach the organization's strategic goals.

Pros
The benefits are great because it's a health plan.
Cons
This company is not strategic and lacks the ability to plan or execute. Lack of overall leadership. There are not enough people or resources to get work done well. High turnover of employees. It's unfortunate because this was once a great company in the KC community.

Current Employee, more than 8 years
Pros
Good people, great attitudes. Healthy(ish) work environment with respectful leadership
Cons
IT has about 20+ years of technical debt. It's literally the wild wild west out here. There is no standardization of code, and documentation is all over the place or missing entirely. It is a HOT mess.

Pros
BCBSKC was a great company to work for.

BCBSKC has been moving away from the small town Plan and they should stick to what built them.

Former Employee, more than 1 year
Pros
Mostly helpful coworkers, decent benefits, ethical.
Cons
Most frustrating place I've ever worked. Training, software and work processes are way too complicated and disorganized. Way too much micromanagement and nitpicking.
